Some folks think happiness comes from how much stuff we own
A brand new car, a swimming pool and a million dollar home
Yeah, some blow half their paycheck out looking for a good time
But that thing called happiness can be so hard to define

If you wanna be happy, then watch children when they play
If you wanna be happy, listen to what old folks have to say
If you wanna be happy, spread around a little love today
'Cause when we give, we get more of what we want, anyway

Some folks stand in line for hours just to buy the latest thing
Some spend a fortune on flowers and a big ol' diamond ring
Some will try about anything, looking for something to blow their mind
But what will make us happy, sometimes seems so hard to find
