Blessed are the children
The hope and future of our land
May their hearts be filled with laughter and freedom's light
Forbid them not in their youth
To learn the words of wisdom and truth
For they are precious, oh so precious, in God's sight

Blessed are each boy and girl
The hope and future of our world
And in our hearts, we're all just children, anyway
To everything there is a season, there's a purpose and a reason
To believe there will be peace on earth, someday

So hold your head up high and keep your eyes on the prize
And one day soon, free at last, we shall overcome

Blessed are God's children
Red, brown, yellow, black and white
So, ask, look and knock and you will find
Even in our darkest hour
There is hope and there is power
And where there's love, there is true peace of mind

Blessed, oh blessed, are the children
