SIXTEEN WEEKS IN NASHVILLE
Writer: Richard Aberdeen ASCAP

Sixteen weeks in Nashville, no shelter from the storm
Days are growing colder, I need a place that's safe and warm
As fall turns into winter, every night is a deeper freeze
And I pray that someone up there is watching out for me, please

I had a big house with a swimming pool, two cars and a family
But my wife moved back home with our kids after giving up on me
The auto plant closed, bills piled up, our son got a rare disease
Now I'm stranded here in Nashville, down on bended knees, please

Sixteen weeks in Nashville, doing hard time on the streets
Without a job or a home and not enough food to eat
It can be so humiliating with no shower and dirty clothes
Sixteen weeks in Nashville, how many more, heaven only knows

There's a lesson I'm learning every day
And it may seem a little odd
But the more trouble comes my way
The more I'm learning to trust God

Sixteen weeks in Nashville, doing hard time on the streets
Without a job or a home and not enough food to eat
It's can be so hard to find work with no shower and dirty clothes
Sixteen weeks in Nashville, how many more, heaven only knows
