Searching For Shade
I’m just looking to find some shade
A little place where I can lay
Lord, I’m tired, my body aches
I’m just looking to find some shade

It’s scorching here in the sun
Five more hours my work is done
Always work and never play
So I’m just looking to find some shade

Finally driving down the road
A hundred miles ‘til I get home
How much more can I take
So I’m just looking to find some shade

This old highway is often kind
And tends to calm my worried mind
But with the sun here in my eyes
I don’t believe time really flies

Wheels on gravel, a welcome sound
Tells me I’m back to where I’m bound
But my old shady oak I found
Someone has felled her to the ground
