Jesse Lynn Madera - Unchained
Unchained 4:34: Drummer Jimmy Paxson (Stevie Nicks, Lindsey Buckingham) arrived at the session with chains and a trash can and used them to get the great drum sound on the song. More than any of the others, ‘Unchained’ set the tone, and dictated the general sound of the album. It was the first song produced by Dan Navarro and Jim Scott. The cover of this Johnny Cash song of redemption, written by Jude Johnstone, is slow, sweet and bathed in humility and grace. Jesse was thrilled to have Jude’s blessing on the final version of the track: “I’m so pleased with this new version by Jesse Lynn Madera. Love the way she digs into the chorus. I am so glad to see this song have a revival.” (Jude Johnstone)
