Dad's Shoe Tree
On the stretch to Placerville, there were boots on every post
Nailed all kinds of places, even along the coast
An idea came upon our pop, to do the very same
On a tree that dropped it’s top, he decided to play this game
He nailed his shoes upon it, he nailed mom’s shoes too
He named this tree a ”Shoe Tree” where his boots were stuck like glue
He’d-show-friends-round-the-property and take them on a walk
Chat about all types of trees making small talk
He’d say that there are Digger pines Manzanita & Madrone
“Here’s one called a Shoe Tree” When he’d say it, they would moan
He nailed his shoes upon it, he nailed mom’s shoes too
He named this tree a ”Shoe Tree” where his boots were stuck like glue
The tree fell down upon the ground shoes were everywhere
Even along the horsetrail, more-shoes-down-there
Many on their walks would see, boots from miles around
Word about his Shoe Tree, created a stir downtown
He nailed his shoes upon it, he nailed mom’s shoes too
He named this tree a ”Shoe Tree” where his boots were stuck like glue
