True story: in middle school, I was the two-time winner of my hometown’s Fourth of July pie eating contest. This song tells what happened when I was a fully-grown adult and decided that, much like Rocky, I needed to win back that championship belt. If we’re getting all psychological, this song is ALSO about realizing that life is too short to worry about what other people think and what is proper for grown-up ladies like me. But it’s mostly about pie. (and in case you’re curious, the competition is based on speed, not quantity.)
