Roger Dale
ROGER DALE by Carol Markstrom (BMI)
VERSE 1
Roy Rogers and Dale Evans he was named after these two.
He came from a line of medicine men, an Apache through and through.
A dancer and a painter Roger Dale kept his culture close.
Yet as a boy felt the tug of the rope, another dream soon arose.
CHORUS:
He was a rip roaring bull riding roping Apache cowboy.
The genuine deal taking the risks out of pure joy.
Hard work, persistence, gettin’ some breaks.
And havin’ just what it takes.
VERSE 2
Rodeo at San Carlos, Roger Dale and the crowd being wowed.
Practice makes perfect his day’ed come, Roy and Dale’d be proud.
Riding the massive bulls. Feeling the aches in his bones.
Blood is thicker than water. With his brother they teamed to rope.
CHORUS
VERSE 3
Belt buckles, tack, and saddles, and money flowed their way.
All the way to Oklahoma, winnings at the PRCA.
Came full circle in life; his boyhood dream fulfilled.
Passed his know-how to the up-and-coming; his legacy goes on still.
CHORUS
