Annie Mae Pictou Aquash was Mi’kmaq from Nova Scotia and an advocate for the well-being and rights of Indigenous people. She was tragically murdered in 1975 on the Pine Ridge Reservation within a context of heightened tension, conflict, and suspicion. Annie Mae’s heartfelt words are spoken in this song by another young Native woman, Morgan Lynn Farley. To learn about missing and murdered Indigenous people go to: https://mmiwusa.org/
