The Last Water Tower
This seems to be one of the more popular songs when I play live. A simple story in a traditional country song. I actually did climb the water towers of Fayetteville when I was a teenager, including the one at the Veterans Administration Hospital. But the rest of the story is fictional or borrowed, or both. People like stories and a good story has a surprise or two.
I was hoarse when I recorded this vocal. My voice was tired and strained after singing harmony parts on a couple of other songs. I probably should have gone back to re-record the vocal, but I decided the song might be best served by the ragged voice.
