Schy: Young Wonder

Deborah Cox and Tamia are the names you think of when you envision Canada’s talent spectrum, but Toronto, Ontario, Canada cordially invites you into the musical world of Schy Samuels. The young, powerhouse talent of Jamaican descent is ready to take the entertainment universe by storm with her strong, infectious vocals and vibrant island flavor.
Influenced by Lauryn Hill and Beyonce, the 15 year old singer/songwriter/musician’s love for music was birthed in the womb, as her mother, Karen Samuels, used to play music to her stomach while pregnant in order to foster a musical child. Her mother’s wishes came true. At an early age, Schy started performing at local events which garnished her much deserved attention and praise. At that time, she realized her potential as a singer.
Just last year, she was introduced to Canadian producer, Jordan, who led her into the studio to complete her demo. Her talent shines on tracks like “Go Harder” and “Reminisce” while expressing her love for the old school with her modern take on Phil Collins hit, “The Air”.
Destiny wasn’t always so clear for the young wonder. She was raised in Toronto by a single mother who often worked as many as three jobs at a time to provide for the family. Schy witnessed her mother’s hard work and endurance, which gave her the will to win and the confidence to walk firmly in her musical journey.
What’s next for the outgoing, articulate young talent? In addition to music, Schy is organizing a charity to help fuel a local breakfast program and on June 25th, is filming an episode of Canada’s Party Mama, in celebration of her sweet 16!
