When I was 10 years old my Granddaddy gave me and my sister a Daisy BB Gun. They lived out in East Texas, in the country. Not knowing any better, I aimed up in a tree and shot a bird. When I saw it on the ground dying, I went from feeling elated to heartbroken. This song explores personal lifetime experiences where I have lost my innocence.
