Man On Fire
Somebody smiled on that loner so it seemed
When he got that guitar at the edge of thirteen
Everybody laughed when he said he was gonna play
But deep inside he knew he had to find a way.

All alone he tried through hours of blood and pain
He poured at his soul until something inside him changed
He was a man on fire...and he knew he was gonna burn

10,000 shows and twenty years down that path
He gave up everything that other people have
They came for miles just to hear that magic man
He had a thing they loved but could not understand

When the crowds were gone a sadness took his heart
Nobody knew the thing he loved was the thing that was tearin' him apart
He was a man on fire...and we loved to watch him burn

Bridge
Every night when he would get up on that stage
We all could fly upon the music that he made
He was a man on fire...an how we loved to watch him burn

Then one night he up and quietly passed away
In a rented room that he payed for day by day
There was no money for a place for him to rest
So they buried him in a paupers field and upon the plaque it said,
Here lies a man on fire...and God, how we loved to watch him burn.
