Sophia's Song
Sophia’s Song

After Sophia died a part of me died too
I didn’t do everything I could for her to pull through
Was she destined to go or was this a test that I had failed
I think of all the things I did that may have caused her to go ill

She was fine for the first two weeks. I went away for a few days.
When I got back she was sick. I took her to the doctor

They said that she was critically ill.
If we’re gonna save her life it’s gonna take more than just a pill
Have you got the money? Have you got the time?
To keep this beautiful foreign beast alive.

Do what ever it takes. I got the money in the bank
She’s my responsibility. I love her she’s my gal.
Every morning at 9 I’d take her to the doctor
Stick her on her drips and wait with her for hours
She’d just be lying there
All the time I never ever took my eyes off her

I got her home one night. It looked like she was getting better
She started to eat and I though the worst was over

It had been 7 days and I was exhausted. I went out to chill way from home
When I got back and took her to the doctor
They said it was final stages. The treatment wasn’t over.

I took her back home. I didn’t know what to do.
A couple of hours later Sophia was gone. 1st May high noon.
I buried her in the jungle with her head facing north
I’ll never forget Sophia. Sweet, gentle, loving soul.
