MONKEY SEE, MONKEY DO
Writer: Richard Aberdeen ASCAP
Publisher: Freedom Tracks Music ASCAP

Grandpa used to wear his pants half way to his neck
They'd inch down as he plowed, till he'd sigh “what the heck”
Now, folks today wear bluejeans lower than a country mile
An' bring a new dimension to the whole idea of how to crack a smile

Hey, monkey see, monkey do
Are you the one following me or am I following you?
Like a slangin' gang of orangutans in a social media zoo
Look at me, hey look at you, monkey see, monkey do

Folks tweetin' n' twangin' their thang are driving us all to rivers of tears
Every new tech gadget is obsolete before the end of the year
Realty celebrity wannabes are soon a jaded memory
Like washed-up whacked-out monkeys in a dysfunctional family tree

Hey, monkey see, monkey do
Are you the one following me or am I following you?
Textin' virtual idiosyncrasies in a global sound-bite stew
Look at me, hey look at you, monkey see, monkey do

Songbirds and word nerds are tweetin', sly corporate wolves are trackin'
Truth-bashing trolls with deception's backin' are hackin', bushwhackin' and attackin'
The drunk zookeeper trains an eagle-eye on me and you
From a well-placed space-based privacy erased global view

Hey, monkey see, monkey do
Are you the one following me or am I following you?
Sure would be nice to have a meaningful conversation
And baby, I'm a countin' on you
Look at me, hey look at you, monkey see, monkey do
