Joice and Dan had been preparing for months for their first trip down the Colorado River through the Grand Canyon in April 2022 when real life slipped in and Joice had to decline the invitation. She dropped Dan off at the Phantom Ranch trailhead and watched him disappear down the trail in a late season snow squall. We didn’t get the trip together, but we did get this love song. It was written on the tubes of an 18-footer, complete with musical eddies and inspired by Dave, Billy, Charlie and Marco.
