Alison Krauss was signed to Rounder Records as a 13-year-old fiddler from<br />
Champaign, IL. Over the past two decades she has become the most recog-<br />
nized face in contemporary bluegrass; a critically acclaimed artist who has<br />
brought modern sophistication to the genre while respecting its traditions.<br />
After launching her recording career with the 1987 solo album, Too Late to<br />
Cry, Krauss released 1989’s Two Highways with Union Station. She<br />
followed this pattern of alternating solo and band records for her next two<br />
releases. In 1990 I’ve Got That Old Feeling brought her a wider audience<br />
with the release of the first bluegrass video of the title track; the Union<br />
Station album Every Time You Say Goodbye followed in 1992.<br />
Alison made bluegrass sales history with the 1995 release of Now That I’ve<br />
Found You: A Collection which achieved double platinum sales status<br />
(2,000,000 copies). That same year, Krauss won an astounding four<br />
CMA Awards, including those for Female Vocalist, Single (“When You Say<br />
Nothing at All”), Vocal Event (“Somewhere in the Vicinity of the Heart,”<br />
with Shenandoah), and the Horizon Award.<br />
Her next three projects, So Long So Wrong, Forget About It, and New<br />
Favorite, were each certified gold for sales of 500,000 copies. The band’s<br />
2002 concert album, Live, was certified double platinum.<br />
In 2004, Alison Krauss & Union Station delivered the exquisite album, Lonely<br />
Runs Both Ways. The project was awarded three Grammys®, bringing her<br />
total to 20 -- the most of any woman in history. She also picked up two more<br />
CMA Awards in 2004 for “Whiskey Lullaby,” her duet with Brad Paisley.<br />
Alison’s Grammy® total is now 26 after winning 6 more, including Album<br />
of the Year, and Record of the Year, for Raising Sand with rock legend<br />
Robert Plant.<br />
Union Station members Dan Tyminski, Ron Block and Jerry Douglas have<br />
all released solo projects on Rounder including Wheels (Dan Tyminski’s<br />
2009 IBMA Album of the year), DoorWay and Far Away Land (Ron Block),<br />
and Every Thing Is Going to Work Out Fine (Jerry Douglas). Ron Block<br />
produced rising bluegrass star Sierra Hull’s debut album on Rounder,<br />
Secrets, and has penned 10 songs that have been recorded by Union<br />
Station including the 2006 Dove Award winning song “A Living Prayer.”<br />
When not pulling double duty as the bass player in both Union Station and<br />
The Dan Tyminski Band, Barry Bales is often pursuing his hobby of duck<br />
and turkey hunting, and caring for the East Tennessee farm given to him<br />
by his Grandmother.<br />
