I saw ole Gideon's bible on the table next to me
I picked it up and looked inside, out of curiosity
The words that my poor eyes beheld, struck a terrifying chord
It said every woman, man, and child is gonna stand before the Lord

I read the words of Jesus, St. John chapter three
He said the heart of man is evil sick, and his spirit isn't free
Of all the things I've bought and sold, there's only one I can't afford
