Stillwater Rag
When I was just a little boy
My Momma said to me
You can't go to that river son until your in your teens
I figured what she didn't know
wasn't going to hurt her none
I headed to the waterside
to have myself some fun
Oh Stillwater how I came to know you like a friend.

Oh Stillwater always looking 'round your next bend
When I look back upon my life and all that I have done
It seems that I remember every single one
Of those good times good time I had down by the river side

When I got a little older Lord you know what I'd do
Take the girls to the riverside to show them what I knew
About how that flowing water could help us pass the time
We'd sit down on the river bank and pacify our minds

Oh Stillwater you always seem to help me understand
Oh Stillwater you where there when a boy became a man
When I look back upon my life and all that I have done
It seems that I remember every single one
Of those good times good time I had down by the river side

I remember skipping school with JD and all my friends
Jeff Jones and I broke up that boat down by the horseshoe bend
And another time at Steiner's Dam when Floater nearly drown
We drug him out and dried him out and we had another round
Oh Stillwater I know you help me through some troubled times
Oh Stillwater how you helped to sooth a troubled mind.
When I look back upon my life and all that I have done
It seems that I remember every single one
Of those good times good time I had down by the river side

I sit here in the evening sun with the darkness closing 'round
I close my eyes and look inside until I here that sound
Of that happy dancing water on those rocks swirling round
Before I die you know I'm gonna be Stillwater bound

Oh Stillwater all the stories you could tell
Oh Stillwater some of them I remember all too well
As I look back upon my life and all the things I've done
It seems that I remember every single one
Of those good times good times
I had down by the river side
