New Burlington
The South West of Ohio was once all Indian land
A black slave named Caesar came to a Shawnee Band
In 1787 the frontier was filled with fright
General Wayne drove the Shawnee out to make room for more whites

New Burlington is gone and the memory lingers on
Caesars Creek is rising up and New Burlington is gone

The Indians fled and the forest were cleared
And a little town was found
The farmers fed the merchants the wheels spun around
100 years and played our farms
Made way for a greater plan
To flood the entire valley with one great well placed dam

New Burlington is gone and the memory lingers on
Caesar’s Creek is rising up and New Burlington is gone

The years they came and went and the land was greatly changed
All that seems to be left now is a few old Indian names
And the name of a black man
Who some how left his mark
On a vacation destination
Caesars Creek Reservoir

New Burlington is gone and the memory lingers on
Caesar’ Creek is rising up and New Burlington is gone

Waist deep in the water I stand on this old road
My mind begins to wonder about where it use to go
Boats sparkle on the water as a Smallmouth takes my fly
The evening sun is setting and another days gone by

New Burlington is gone and the memory lingers on
Caesars Creek is rising up and New Burlington is gone
