Voices in the Forest

Voices in the Forest, an apt play on vocalist Angela Sterling Forests name. Bass drum and claves set the beat, then synthesizer sets the stage for one of the most memorable viola themes of the entire work. Shifting to a forbidding tempo, the strings yield to Forests haunting vocal riffs, which were improvised live over the viola parts. They tease and taunt each other in a counterpointed dance of desire.
