About the Music
Winter Moon, the debut release by violist/composer Rhonda Lorence, is an elegant, multi-layered marriage of new age and neo-classical. The global influences evident in her arrangements are subtle and varied, from Celtic to Moroccan, Asian to Eastern European.

Winter Moon is a compilation of sensations which demands more of the listener. Infused with passion and underlying tension, these compelling neo classical compositions require repeated listening to dissect the strata of instrumental angst and wonder. Whether you listen casually or critically, you will discover nuances in this composers artistry that fill you with enchantment.

Within a month of its release, Winter Moon soared into the top twenty on New Age stations throughout the country. As a result of listener response and remaining in the top 50 on the New Age Reporter charts throughout 2005, Winter Moon was nominated by broadcasters in four categories for the 2005 NAR Lifestyle Music Awards.

Thank you SO MUCH for sending Rhonda Lorence's Winter Moon to WERU. It is absolutely beautiful! I rarely gush about new music, but I am listening to it right now and it is so haunting and goes straight to the soul. This one will get great spins up here in Maine. About the Composer
When asked about her creative process, composer Rhonda Lorence acknowledges an intentional spiritual aim for her music. I think the most important thing is that the music inspires someone to fully listen, feel and experience the complexity of emotions embedded within it. The music is intended to add to the emotional exploration of the inner life.

Rhonda Lorences compositions are an articulate expression of her artistry as a violist as well as a sound engineer and producer. She personally recorded and mixed her debut CD, Winter Moon. Her mastery of layering multiple tracks, blending vocals, synthesizer, and playing all the accompanying live strings is a testament to her diverse and fluid talents.

Highlights of Lorences 20-year performance career include tours of Japan and Korea with the Mantovanni Orchestra; a stint as principal violist for the Naples (FL) Orchestra; performances with the Russian Ballet Orchestra and Tampa Bay Opera; and numerous show performances with legends such as Tony Bennett, Dionne Warwick, Henry Mancini and Burt Bacharach.

Ms Lorence teaches private lessons on violin and viola using the Suzuki method. Currently she is recording her second CD at Adventure Girl Studios near Boone, NC.
