Everybody’s
Complainin’
They talk about how much it costs
To live today
While they’re scrimpin’
Not savin’
They never think about the price
They’ll have to pay

The high cost of living
Isn’t doing without
It’s not the clouds in the mirror
Or the shiver of doubt
It’s the phone call in the night
That’ll make you cry
The high cost of living
Is saying goodbye

I once had
A kingdom
It was made of fool’s gold
And a beggar’s debt
I was living
Unforgiving
I didn’t know the sacrifice
Or the consequence
