Building Together
Building Together

There’s a history that we’ve left undiscovered.
A history we want to leave behind.
Injustices we caused to one another,
that echo down the ages to our time.

It’s a history of many who have suffered
when others came to conquer and to take.
So sure that they were right in what they wanted
there was nothing they couldn’t bend or wouldn’t break.

We are building together, a house for each other,
made not only of clay, but of the way we discover
who we were, who we will be.
For it’s only when we truly can remember that we see
who we will be.

There are voices in these rocks and in these mountains
that tell of lives cut short, lives forever changed.
Spirits of the past that move among us
and say that what once was could be again.

We are building together, a house for each other,
made not only of clay, but of the way we discover
who we were, who we will be.
For it’s only when we truly can remember that we see
who we will be.

So we come now to this place and to this moment
and we know that it is time to understand.
To learn and remember and to promise
through the work we do together with our hands.

We are building together, a house for each other,
made not only of clay, but of the way we discover
who we were, who we will be.
For it’s only when we truly can remember that we see
who we will be.
