On one of the most satisfying collaboration albums in a long and storied career, Stanley and a host of guests provide a powerful statement of the effect that Stanley’s unique style has had on country music. The thirty names here are impressive enough, and what’s even more incredible is that each artist fits in beautifully, totally at home in the “Stanley sound.” Featured artists include Porter Wagoner, Bob Dylan, Kathy Mattea, BR- 549, Ricky Skaggs, Vince Gill, Jim Lauderdale, Junior Brown, Gillian Welch, Rhonda Vincent, Patty Loveless, and Marty Stuart.
During the recording of this project, the Clinch Mountain Boys cut the tracks live, usually in one or two takes, with very few overdubs.
