Biography
Rachel is no stranger to the folk/bluegrass scene. She regularly teaches singing at music camps such as Puget Sound Guitar Workshop, Redwood Music Camp, and Lark Camp, and she has been a folk DJ on community radio since 1982. Rachel grew up in the booming S.F Bay Area folk and bluegrass scene of the 70s, where music was played for the sheer joy of it. After moving to Appalachia, she produced radio documentaries about traditional country and old-time women performers (Southern Songbirds), which led to a life of learning folk songs and eventually writing her own. Her songs emerge from a close relationship with her home in the Santa Cruz Mountains of California. Rachel currently performs with her bands, The Coast Ridge Ramblers (Americana/folk) and Stone Circle (Irish).
