9) Belle LaFollette
Belle La Follette (1859-1931) was the first woman to graduate from law school in Wisconsin. Little remembered or recognized today, she was a fierce advocate and organizer for women’s right to vote, peace, and racial justice. In 1915 helped found the Woman’s Peace Party, which later became the Women’s International League for Peace and Freedom.
