The Good Friday agreement signed on April 10, 1998 in Belfast was designed to put an end to The Troubles, a 30-year armed struggle between mostly-Catholic and mostly-Protestant paramilitary forces in Northern Ireland in which thousands were murdered. “If those who prayed for violence, and shed their children’s blood” can find a way to some semblance of peace, is it too much to hope that others can as well?
