The Duchess (Little Concerto in E minor)
recorded by the Czech Philharmonic Chamber Orchestra
possible movie score

The strings remind you there is something majestic and noble about the Duchess. You feel a little inferior, even a little jealous. As the energy in the piano line suggests, you engage her Ladyship in an exchange of pleasantries. You realize there is a real person underneath all that high fashion. As your familiarity grows, the tempo slows. You realize from the wrinkles on her face, her tone and her choice of words that she has suffered the same life challenges, joys and disappointments that you, an ordinary person, have experienced. You come to respect the Duchess. As she goes, her departure is predictably gracious. After she’s gone, you feel as if a little bit of the nobility and dignity might have rubbed off on you. She is the Duchess, but she left you feeling a bit like a duke.
