Sunrise
recorded by the Czech Philharmonic Chamber Orchestra

The winds announce a tiny sliver of light appearing over the immeasurable darkness ahead. Gradually, as the orchestra grows, I can begin to distinguish between the ocean and the sky. It is a gentle, warm light, a welcomed alternative to the uncaring anonymity of the night. No longer small and parallel to the water’s surface, the crash of the cymbal proclaims colorful spikes of light that shoot from the emerging yellow sphere, pointing upwards in all directions. The announcement is unmistakable. The tiara of the dawn’s rays is a harbinger of the bounties of the oncoming day. Despite the seemingly endless time it took, the moment has quickly passed. The sun has risen.
