PEOPLE
Writer: Richard Aberdeen ASCAP
Publisher: Freedom Tracks Music ASCAP

(don't you know)
People like pie and ice cream, oh yeah and people, people like rock and roll
People like girls and boys, high-tech toys
And make a lotta noise when the home team wins
Or loses, as the case may be

And nobody really knows, nobody really knows
Nobody knows why God cares about people

Now, people like expensive clothes, people like celebrity stars
Photographs from Mars, fast cars, pick fights in bars
And like to show off their scars just to prove it
Or not, as the case may be

And nobody really knows, nobody really knows
Nobody knows why God cares about people

People tell tall tales, avoid stepping on snails
Wag puppy-dog tails, save trees and the whales
While far too often we fail to get along with each other

You know, people can be cool and people can be low and mean
We can be good and bad, happy and sad
And often as not somewhere in-between
We apologize, as the case may be

And nobody really knows, nobody really knows
Nobody knows why God cares about people

Yeah, nobody really knows and the mystery just grows and grows
Nobody knows why God cares about people. . .
No, cares about people
