Jingle Bells (Instrumental)
Jingle Bells (Time: 2:24)

At 19 High Street in Medford Massachusetts, a plaque reads “the birthplace of Jingle Bells”. In 1850 it was the site of the Simpson Tavern where the plaque indicates that James Lord Pierpoint wrote the song. There has been some debate regarding where and when Pierpoint wrote Jingle Bells. During autumn 1857 to celebrate Thanksgiving, he copyrighted the song as “One Horse Open Sleigh”.

The debate arose due to the fact that at that time, Pierpoint was the music director of the Unitarian Church in Savannah Georgia-nowhere near Medford. Either way, his creation was reprinted in 1859 under the name of “Jingle Bells”, and over the years has become associated with the Christmas season.

My Approach to Recording Jingle Bells

How do you record a song that has been done a million times? I put the banjo in Verse 2, and a dobro in Verse 3. Hopefully together they provide some variety to this classic Christmas song.
