Biography

Jeff Murray grew up in Brooksville, KY and played banjo with the Boys from Indiana for nearly five years before releasing Out in the Dark on Pinecastle Records. His musical influences vary widely and he grew up listening to old country, rock and roll and bluegrass. His first real instrument was given to him for Christmas in 1981; it was a five-string banjo. Though the banjo is his first love, he also enjoys playing other instrumetns such as the piano. He loves experimenting with other types of music including blues, country and old rock and roll. Of his musical perspective Jeff says, “I always try to keep my mind open to new ideas without losing touch of what’s real and traditional. In the future, I hope to learn and grow with the music I love. And I hope that people who listen to it enjoy it as much as I enjoy playing it.”
