Diane Coll - This Heart
This song carries deep meaning for me and is one that I suspect will continue to be a challenge at various times in my life," explains Atlanta based songwriter Diane Coll about "This Heart," the advance single from her 2024 album, Old Ghosts (radio add date January 16, 2024). "I made a choice and continue to stake my claim for keeping my heart open and not allow it to turn to stone from life’s painful experiences. At times, this is sometimes easier said than done, but I like a good challenge. I do hope this song will inspire others to self-reflect and change course if need be."

Originally from Chicago where Coll dabbled in the Chicago music scene, before she eventually made her way to Georgia in the early 90’s to soak up the thriving music scenes in Athens and Atlanta. In Athens that she fronted a trio called Rosary and released the album Clairvoyance. "Although life circumstances sidelined my musical endeavors for a number of years," she says, "I do have a goldfish to thank for reigniting my passion for songwriting in 2017. In tribute, I titled my first solo release Happy Fish and Other Delights in October 2022. It was a pleasant surprise that it received solid airplay on various folk/indie stations and placed nicely in folk charts." A 4-song ukulele-inspired EP, Into the Fire, followed up in April, 2023.

"I currently reside in the Atlanta area, where I work as a mental health therapist," Coll reports. "Music has always been my therapy and, as a lifelong music lover, I honor the sacred space between performer and listener. It is a beautiful dance where change is inevitable."

“Crystal clear vocals and pristine guitar work pave the way for a collection of earthy, inspired stories, reflecting an intimacy and warmth that harkens back to Laurel Canyon. Fans of classic writers such as Mary Chapin Carpenter as well as today's indie-folk sirens like Erin Rae and Joan Shelley can find much to appreciate in Diane’s songs.” - Kim Ware (Kim Ware and The Good Graces)

“Although her sound and style is uniquely her own, I can hear small strands of influences woven into her songs: Neko Case, Paula Frazer and Emmylou Harris come to mind, but they are seamlessly blended into a sound that is her own.” - Jeremy Glass (Pajama Garden / Railroad Earth Atlanta)
