Better yet, would you go in debt
For one less worthy of his hire?
If love was a dollar,
How much would you require?
If love was a dollar,
How much would you spend?
Ninety and eight cents on yourself
Leavin’ two cents for a friend?
Or better yet, would you go in debt
For one less worthy of his hire?
If love was a dollar,
How much would you require?
Two harlots brought their dispute into trial.
Both claimed to be the mother of the same child.
...So the judge said, “Cut the child in two, give each on half.”
The real mom cried, “Please don’t do that!”
Compassion spared the mother and her child.
If love was a dollar,
How much would you spend?
Ninety and eight cents on yourself
Leavin’ two cents for a friend?
Or better yet, would you go in debt
For one less worthy of his hire?
If love was a dollar,
How much would you require?
When Abraham carried the fire and knife
To a mountain top with his son to sacrifice,
God interrupted Abraham said,
“Now I know you love Me more than him!
Hurt not the child, I’ll provide the lamb.”
If love was a dollar,
How much would you spend?
Ninety and eight cents on yourself
Leavin’ two cents for a friend?
Or better yet, would you go in debt
For one less worthy of his hire?
If love was a dollar,
How much would you require?
People line Via De La Rosa to see the Man,
Who was in the beginning before Abraham.
The Word made flesh acquainted with grief
Came as a lamb instead of a king.
They would lift Him up and He would draw all men.
If love was a dollar,
How much would you spend?
Ninety and eight cents on yourself
Leavin’ two cents for a friend?
Or better yet, would you go in debt
For one less worthy of his hire?
If love was a dollar,
How much would you require?
