The Letter
THE LETTER

His eyes were closed when I checked on him, still holding his teddy bear.
I pulled the blankets to his chin, and saw the letter there.
I opened it up, held it to the light, then I sat down on his bed.
It was a letter addressed to God and this is what it said:
Our Father,
My name is Johnny.
Do you know where Jesus lives?
Long ago He used to live here,
and He left us something that was His.
Ever since He went away,
nothing here's been right.
We don't go to church no more
(other things take up our time).
Mommy and Daddy fight every day
and Mommy --- she cries alot.
Our Father, if You'll send Jesus back ---
I'll give You all I've got.
Signed your friend,
Johnny O.
P.S. He left us His Bible, Mom and Daddy don't read it no more.
I can't begin to tell you what I felt inside.
That letter made me realize who was missing in our lives.
When I showed my wife the letter, we both began to pray:
"Dear God please forgive us and deliver us from our ways."
Then Johnny came into the room
with a smile of love within.
I asked him why he was smiling,
he said, " 'Cause Jesus lives here again."
