God's Not Like That At All
God's Not Like That At All

All that the boy ever wanted was to be like a normal kid.
Three different moms in his first ten years, left him outside, lookin' in.
He would close his eyes, waiting for the other shoe to fall.
He didn't know . . . God's not like that at all.
The boy didn't know, God's not like that at all.

He hated the thought of losin', so he invented new ways to win!
He once told God that He could end his life if he was ever bad again.
The he closed his eyes, waiting for the other shoe to fall . . .
still didn't know . . . God's not like that at all.
The boy didn't know, God's not like that at all.

Born to be a liar, and a cheat,
a deceiver, and a thief,
with no place to hide when trouble called.
He didn't know . . . God's not like that at all.
The boy didn't know, God's not like that at all.

Ridin' the winds of September to the autumn of his years.
He had to let go of all the things of the past, all the heartaches, all the tears.
He doesn't close his eyes, waitin' for the other shoe to fall.
Peace he knows . . . God's not like that at all!
Peace he knows, God's not like that at all.

He used to be a liar, and a cheat,
a deceiver, and a thief,
with no place to hide when trouble called.
Somebody loved him, and up above him echoed a neighbor's prayer,
"Show the child God's not like that at all.
Please show the child, God's not like that at all."
