FATEFUL DAY


As a child I believed what I was taught about my world
Believed in my priests, in my teachers,
And in my parents God bless them for all that they didnt know
And for what I discovered on my own

There came that fateful day
When all I thought I knew got blown away
Life cut thru me like a blade
And my whole world was changed


It took some time to take it in and to get out into this larger world
Believing in myself, in all that I had learned
Thru experience God bless me for all I hadnt lived yet
And for the rest that I still had to get

I thought I had life figured out
I thought I saw a clear way to go
I thought I knew beyond a doubt --
So what do I ever really know?

Life is change and worms become butterflies
Snakes shed their skin, some ideas have to die
The greatest empire can crumble away cause
Nothing thats born on earth can stay the same
