Just north of Sandy Ridge and above the coal mine dig's
you can feel the rumble of the Clinchfield Train
and thru the canyons steep and over Holsten River Bridge
moving thru the valleys and the fills.

You can hear the hammer sound driving in the ground another nail in the Bessemer Steel
it echos through the pines and above the timberline
their building out the Clinchfield Mountain Rail.

Old Engine 99 crossed into Caroline big wheels pulling
450 tons and the steam begins to blow and you can hear the whistle call steam locomotive days have come and gone.
