TO PLEASE A PRETTY WOMAN
TO PLEASE A PRETTY WOMAN
(Jerry K Green)
I started out to be a Country singer
Even learned to play guitar myself
I was on my way to fame and fortune
But now that ole guitar is on the shelf

I gave it up To Please A Pretty Woman
She said I had to find a better life
Now I sit at home each night and wonder
Why a man believes he needs a wife

I loved that woman like I love good music
To give up either one was hard to do
It broke my heart the day I discovered
I couldn’t keep her and my music too

I gave it up To Please A Pretty Woman
She said I had to be at home at night
Now I sit and look at television
Watching other people live their lives

I can’t help but wonder where I’d be now
If I’d chosen music over her that day

I gave it up To Please A Pretty Woman
I thought I had to have her love or die
But If I had a chance to do it over
This ole boy would...Well, I’ll tell you...
This ole boy would...Listen close now...
This ole boy would still give love a try.
