I believe that every song written is a story.
This is the story of "Tears Over Memphis"

I wrote this song several years ago, I drove to Nashville Tenn to promote my debut cd Nashville Sessions. I lived in Albuquerque NM at the time and
this was my first time ever to drive cross country alone.
I was determined to promote and make my first project a success however things did not turn out as planned
and after five days I left Nashville feeling empty and alone. I had to drive 1300 miles back to Albuquerque, I was feeling pretty down about things I was unsure if I even wanted to continue in music. I didn't turn the radio on one time during the drive back home.
The next day I got the inspiration for the song and "Tears Over Memphis" was born.

"Tears Over Memphis"

Said my goodbye
Crossing the state line
So many miles ahead
To get you off my mind

Pre-Chorus

I never knew lonely until that day
Don't think I'll understand
Why you turned away

Chorus

The rain over Memphis is falling like tears
You don't know the emptiness
You can't feel the fear
The rain over Memphis is falling like tears

The day you went away
Where did we go wrong
So many questions to face on the road I'm on

Pre-Chorus

I never knew lonely until that day
Don't think I'll understand
Why you walked away

Chorus

The Rain over Memphis is falling like tears
You don't know the emptiness
You can't feel the fear
The rain over Memphis is falling like tears

Said my goodbye
Crossing the state line
So many miles ahead
To get you off my mind

Hook

As I look into my rear view
A tear falls from my eye
I guess this is your way of saying goodbye

Rpt Chorus and fade

The rain over Memphis is falling like tears
You don't know the emptiness
You can't feel the fear
The rain over Memphis is falling like tears
