This is one of the oldest and most prolifically covered, interpreted, or reconstructed tunes in the Black Folk and Old Time Country Canon. In the Black tradition the title Rabbit on a Log seemed to stick. In the white tradition Skillet Good 'n' Greasy seemed to dominate. My version is based on that of Syd Hemphill, Lonzie Thomas, and The Mississippi Sheiks.
