Banjo Blues
4. Banjo Blues[b/] 2:32
This tune was recorded in 1927 by Georgia Bluesman and Songster Peg Leg Howell, accompanied by Black Fiddler Eddie Anthony. It is a callback to the Black Banjo and Fiddle tunes that predated the Blues. It's as Country as one can get, but still uniquely and beautifully Black. I tried to find a fiddler who could capture the yowling and screeching beauty that Eddie Anthony embodied on the original recording, but ultimately decided that my fiddler was more capable of capturing that essence on his main instrument, guitar. I'm thrilled and honored that this tune is the first released recording of my collaboration with my Sensei, Andy Cohen.
