Better Place In Heaven
Better Place In Heaven c2015

I met him by the mission down on Main Street
Trying to fix the wheel on his old shopping cart
Touched his shoulder and asked if I could help him
He looked up and said, “Well bless your heart”
Most people pass right by
Or turn & walk away
But I know someone
Who hears me when I pray.
A cardboard box
And a blanket's all I need
Some have everything
But don't have as much as me.

Chorus:
I know I'll have a better place in heaven
I'll be welcomed there with open arms
I know I'll have a better place in heaven
When I hear my Savior say son, welcome home.

Every now and then I go to see him
And listen to the stories that he'd tell
He lost his wife in '83, and his arm in Vietnam
When he wasn't welcomed home it hurt like hell
He said, “They spit on me
But I still pray
To someone that I know
Who was treated the same way”.

Chorus

I found him by his shopping cart this morning
With some medals and a Bible in his hand
And he was gone...

Chorus:
I know he'll have a better place in heaven
He'll be welcomed there with open arms
I know he'll have a better place in heaven
He heard his Savior say, son welcome home.
