Breakdown
BREAKDOWN

Well I met her accidentally in the hills of Carolina,
So long ago I don’t remember the time or place.
Well I took just one look at her and I knew it didn’t matter,
She was more than just a pretty face.

She was sweet as sourwood honey, she was meaner than a snake,
She was pretty as a sunset at the beach.
She drug me to the bottom, lord, she brought me to my knees
And lifted me up to heights I thought I’d never reach.

Chorus
Had a little breakdown, got caught in a shakedown,
Oh lord have mercy I think I dropped the ball.
Picked up a live wire, got caught in a crossfire,
And that no-good woman was the cause of it all.
I said that evil woman was the cause of it all.

It started out real simple, the way that most things do,
Hangin’ out in seedy, smoky bars.
And just a few weeks later and before I even knew,
We were out there robbing banks and stealing cars.

We robbed liquor stores and taverns, convenience stores and bars,
We even made a run to Mexico.
But when she shot that man in Asheville, just to watch him cry,
I knew the time had come for me to go.

Chorus
Had a little breakdown, got caught in a shakedown,
Oh lord have mercy I think I dropped the ball.
Picked up a live wire, got caught in a crossfire,
And that lowdown woman was the cause of it all.
I said that no-good woman was the cause of it all.

Well somewhere outside of Bristol, I let her slip away.
She’s looking for that home and hope she finds it.
She broke my heart in pieces yeah she ripped it right in two,
And I’m still out here lookin’ for the tie that binds it.

Chorus
Had a little breakdown, got caught in a shakedown,
Oh lord have mercy I think I dropped the ball.
Picked up a live wire, got caught in a cross fire,
And that wicked woman was the cause of it all.
I said that evil woman was the cause of it all.
You know that no-good woman was the cause of it all.
That low-down woman was the cause of it all.
