This cover of Billy Bragg’s, Between The Wars, is as relevant now as it was released in 1985 and inspired by the 1984-85 UK miners strike. “I first heard ‘Between The Wars’ while in Australia a few years ago, played by a wonderful trio called The Beenies. The beauty of the lyrics and the truth and intensity of Billy Bragg’s message just resonated and stuck with me. I played it for Allison and Stash and they loved it too, so we brought it into the Drifters’ repertoire. Even though it was written in the 1980’s, it’s a song for our times right now, “ says Bruce.
