TOUGH ACT TO FOLLOW

the words have all been said
We both sleep alone in our King sized beds
I walk the streets with shoes of lead
trudging through the rain

History it dragged us down
Petty voices in small towns
whispers that no shout could drown
but there's no cause to complain

Nothing of that life appealed
Nothing worthwhile was revealed
i wont speak my lips are sealed
beside's it's all the same

Every time I speak to someone new
The words just ring out hollow
Gotta Face it baby
Your a tough act to follow

We drank the wine and covered ground
Turned every feeling upside down
i left mine in the lost and found
behind some sad refrain

I was assigned the blame I took the hit
But nothing much was learned from it
what happened to the perfect fit
that turned into this pain

I think about it when I try
To reach down deep but I can't cry
what was the truth, what was the lie
It's all stuck in my brain

Every time I speak to someone new
The words just ring out hollow
Face it baby
Your a tough act to follow

This sadness is still wrapped in rage
An angry beast inside a cage
the wisdom of a Maji Sage
Still could not explain

How did we both end up here
My thoughts break through the stratosphere
Breathing ever thinning air
While it all went down the drain

I can't talk my words get stuck
Can't blame no one for my bad luck
There is no point for pain, regret or sorrow
It's just that you're a tough act to follow

I'll get by been here before
It was my choice to use the door
you asked too much to be ignored
the truth ran out of grain

We forced the lock no key would fit
you were the first to open it
but now it's time for us to quit
this crazy losing game

It's way to late to re create
What we don't appreciate
Before love turns to bitter hate
Like snow turns into rain

I think about another round
With someone new that might be found
But everyone I meet seems pale and shallow
Baby your a tough act to follow
