I’ve always found solace in the lonesome, often mysterious open spaces of the Southwest – the land of my birth. “Southwestern Pilgrimage” is an anthem to the spirt of searching for yourself. I wrote it as I left my home in Austin,Texas to search the Rocky Mountains. I eventually found a second home in Colorado, then New Mexico – but always returned to my family home in Texas. As the song reveals, I was broken-hearted, broken down and broke. I’d grown disenchanted with the over-hyped “Austin Music Scene”, though I still felt a strong connection with fellow artists and music-lovers in Texas. People make music. Places don’t make music – though the landscape has an influence.
