And The Wheels Trun
The first time I heard this song I was out on the West Coast!! 18 years old and dreaming big!! I met Charley Stefl at Larry Bastian's house in the mountains that year!! Actually, I met about ten people that week that were all doing the same things in different places trying to get to the same spot!! I learned Charley lived only a few miles away from me so we started hanging and I got to start singing this song with him!! Charley is still one of my closest and dearest friends I have ever had!! I have always loved this song's storyline and twisted ending…that stuff gets me every time!!

Mornings making shadows
Across the bedroom floor
He double checks his nightstand
His bags been packed since four
His semi’s waiting for him
Ready to haul the load
It’s two days out to Denver
But he’ll be six days on the road
And the wheels turn
And the wheels turn

Just past mile post 20
His thermos between his legs
About to pour the coffee
That his wife got up and made
And all at once it hits him
She’s probably still in bed
Not the one he left behind
But the one that’s up ahead
And the wheels turn
And the wheels turn
And the wheels turn

It’s only been three hours
Since his semi pulled away
It makes her blush to think about
The plan she made today
He’s on his way to Denver
For six days he’ll be gone
She smiles softly to herself
As she reaches for the phone
And the wheels turn
And the wheels turn
And the wheels turn
