Biography
Maurice Sklar is a world renowned concert violinist. Dr. Maurice Sklar is a concert violinist who began playing the violin at the age of 4. He won numerous awards from the age of 9, and at 13 left home to study violin with Fredell Lack in Houston, Texas. In addition he attended Meadowmount Summer Music School (Ivan Galamian) for 7 consecutive years.

Accepted at the Juilliard School of Music in New York at the age of 15, Maurice subsequently won a scholarship to attend the Curtis Institute of Music at the age of 16, where he studied with the great violin teacher, Ivan Galamian as well as David Cerrone and Felix Galimir. After receiving his Bachelors of Music from Curtis, he returned to Juilliard to study with Dorothy DeLay. In 1986 Maurice won the Young Concert Artists International Auditions. In 1990 he was chosen by Musical America as one of the top 10 “Young Artists of the Year”.

In 1995 he signed with Integrity Music and recorded several CDs including Songs of Zion and El Shaddai recorded with the London Philharmonic and Shalom Jerusalem. In addition, he has numerous other recordings including the Sonatas and Partitas for solo violin by JS Bach, The Romantic Baroque Violin, and the Four Seasons by Vivaldi.

Dr. Maurice Sklar has performed throughout the Americas, Europe, Russia, Canada, Israel, China, Japan and other Asian nations. He continues to perform worldwide.
